Shete Boka National Park

Shete Boka National Park ('7 inlets or bays') is a coastal park that is located in the west of Curaçao. This park is known for the seawater that violently bangs against the coastline and this makes for an impressive image. This park should definitely be put on your to-do list when you visit the island!

The Popular Bokas

Shete Boka National Park was established in 1994 and consists of 200 hectares. In total, there are seven inlets, but the best known are Boka Wandomi, Boka Pistol, and Boka Tabla. You can follow a trail either on foot or by car. If you choose to walk, remember to wear appropriate shoes and clothes. Boka Wandomi is known for the natural bridge formed by the erosion of the water. To get here from the parking lot you have to walk a short distance. There are two viewpoints here, one on each side, which overlooks the natural bridge. Keep in mind that there are hardly any shaded areas, so use enough sunscreen and drink enough water! Boka Pistol is an inlet where when the water hits it, the water is bounced back with a lot of noise similar to the going off of a gun, hence the name. The third popular boka is Boka Tabla. Here too the waves hit the coast hard, but what makes this inlet so special is that there is a cave where you can enter. This cave can be reached via a narrow staircase. The water flows in and out here, which creates yet another unique image. Be careful here, because it can be slippery because of the water.

Sea Turtle Conservation

The park is not only known for its inlets but also for the turtles that come here every year to lay eggs. Their nesting season is from May to December and the researchers monitor the turtles. In this way, they contribute to the conservation of the turtles and their nesting place. The turtles mainly come back to Boka Kalki and can sometimes be spotted.
